On Saturday morning, I was very kindly invited to attend a gift wrapping course at The Gift Wrap Studio in Bryanston. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The lovely owner of The Gift Wrap Studio, Romy, welcomed us into her beautiful studio and gave us a wonderful morning of fun and creativity.
The company has been active for over year and they have workshops once a month. The courses offered include an Introduction/Beginner course, an Advanced/Masters course or your can do both courses in one day. The classes have a maximum of 12 people per class, therefore she gives each person a lot of individual attention.
Romy, along with her trained team from Thembisa, also offer gift wrapping services to corporate clients. This is done to the clients specifications.
I attended the beginner class and we learned many different wonderful wrapping and ribbon techniques.
The class included learning the following:
- How to wrap a box with no visible seams and no visible cello tape.
- The cross over method of wrapping.
- A Traditional Bow, Corner Bow, Cheats Bow and a Puffy Bow.
- How to wrap a bottle of bubbles.
- Gift Envelopes.
- Dress up a simple paper packet.
My favourite part of the course was learning how to wrap a bottle because it was such a difficult technique but I managed to, some what, do it. I was very proud of myself.
It was an incredibly fun morning and I learnt so much. So if you want to get your creative juices flowing or learn how to gift wrap beautifully, then I certainly recommend taking a class. It is well worth it and you cannot believe the knowledge one gains from the course.
